VISION & MISSION STATEMENT 

Ladies & Gentleman, boys and girls of Chess;

    I'm proud to announce the launching of a revamped chess organization and chess club; GREATER BAYSTATE CHESS (GBC). Formerly the WESTFIELD CHESS CLUB (WCC) which has operated for over 50 years, is now, a non-profit donation-based organization.

    When I joined the club in 2005, it was in the side meeting room of Burger King in Westfield, MA. Today, after many other restaurant locations over the years, we're in the beautiful fellowship Hall of St. John's Lutheran Church in Westfield, MA . As president of the club the last 14 years, with the support of my awesome business associates, the community, and some other wonderful folks in the chess world, I've expanded it to become the only independent official US Chess Federation Affiliate Chess Club in Western Massachusetts. We also hold US Chess Rated scholastic and adult tournaments, at different venues in Western and Central Massachusetts. And so, GREATER BAYSTATE CHESS was born! 

   Our mission is to focus more on relationships and chess than politics and territorial division. It is my vision to forge unity & friendships that bring together people of all races, all cultures, and geographical locations to share the beautiful game of chess with one another! Chess has allowed me to make some wonderful and amazing friends from across the globe as a United States Chess Federation member, and I'm very excited to make many more! 

    I cordially invite chess players of all skill levels from all over the BAYSTATE and beyond, to join us for some incredible chess experiences, the likes of which have never been offered in Western Massachusetts! I welcome you all with an open heart to learn, share, teach, compete, and have the best time with chess you've ever had in your lives! This is my hope! The more we grow together, the bigger our club gets, the more equipment, books, and learning tools we can provide. More quality tournaments can be held, increasingly substantial prize funds, chess programs in the community, schools, and we can help other chess clubs grow!

    I hope you will support our cause with your ideas, donations, participation in our Club meetings and tournaments. Join the Greater Baystate Chess family!
